Beyond our list: your procurement arm in India

Most US manufacturers cannot justify an office in India. We work as one for you: we find, qualify and develop Indian suppliers for parts outside our range, hold them to your drawing, and ship their parts with the rest of your order.

Supplier search and development

We shortlist Indian makers for your part, visit their plants, and check process capability and quality systems before any quotation. Where no one fits, we develop one.

Samples and first article approval

Samples are made and measured against your drawing, and a first article report goes to you for approval before production starts.

Quality checked on the ground

Our team inspects in process and before dispatch at the supplier, so problems are caught in India, not at your goods-in.

One contract, one invoice

You buy from Qumek, not from a chain of suppliers. We answer for the price, the drawing and the paperwork.

One shipment, one paperwork pack

Parts from several suppliers are consolidated into one shipment, with the origin, metal content and CMRT paperwork for every part.

A second source in India

An approved Indian source for parts you buy from one supplier today, so a single factory or a single country is no longer a risk to your line.

10%

Section 301 duty on most products of India from 24 July 2026, on top of the HTS rate. Section 232 metal goods pay that duty instead.

US duty on parts from India

US tariffs changed several times in 2025 and 2026. This is the position in October 2026, and every quotation shows the duty separately so you can see the effect.

Section 301
A 10% duty on most products of India from 24 July 2026, on top of the normal HTS rate. Goods that pay Section 232 duty are excluded.
Section 232 metals
Steel, aluminium and copper goods, and listed derivative products, pay Section 232 duty on their full value, at rates up to 50%.
Earlier tariffs
The IEEPA tariffs, including the India-specific rates, ended after the Supreme Court ruling of 20 February 2026. CBP stopped collecting them on 24 February 2026.
Normal duty
The HTS (MFN) rate of each part still applies underneath.
Fees
Merchandise processing fee of 0.3464%, within per-entry limits, and harbor maintenance fee of 0.125% on ocean cargo.
What we supply
The metal content breakdown and country of origin your broker needs to enter each part correctly.

Depends on the heading and metal content.

Typical headings only. Whether a part pays Section 232 depends on its HTS code and the derivative lists in force on the entry date; your customs broker confirms it.

Section 232: check every metal part

Section 232 duty follows the metal and the HTS code, not the supplier. Bars, profiles and many metal articles pay it; most moulded and wound parts do not.

  • Aluminium heat sinks and extrusions

  • Steel fasteners

  • Assemblies
Full value
Since April 2026, Section 232 duty is charged on the full customs value of the good.
Derivatives
Many parts made of steel, aluminium or copper are listed as derivatives. Lists change, so the check is made per HTS code on the entry date.
No stacking with 301
A part that pays Section 232 duty does not also pay the 10% Section 301 duty.
Plastic parts
Plastic mouldings pay the HTS rate plus the 10% Section 301 duty.

Questions buyers ask

Can you source parts outside your product list?+

Yes. We work as your procurement arm in India: we find and qualify suppliers for parts made to your drawing, approve samples against it, inspect before dispatch, and ship the parts with the rest of your order under one contract.

How is this different from a sourcing agent?+

A sourcing agent introduces you to suppliers and takes a commission; the contract and the risk stay with you. You buy from Qumek. We answer for the part, the price and the paperwork, and the quality problem is ours to solve.

What duty applies to electrical parts from India into the US?+

From 24 July 2026, most products of India pay a 10% Section 301 duty on top of the normal HTS rate. Steel, aluminium and copper goods and listed derivatives pay Section 232 duty instead, at rates up to 50% on full value. Check each code with your broker; quotations show the duty separately.

Are the IEEPA tariffs on India still collected?+

No. The Supreme Court ruled on 20 February 2026 that IEEPA does not authorise tariffs, and CBP stopped collecting them on 24 February 2026.

Do you work to inch drawings and ASTM standards?+

Yes. We work to inch or metric drawings and to the standard your drawing names, such as ASTM B187 for copper bar.

Can you provide a conflict minerals report?+

Yes. We supply a CMRT covering tin used in plating and solder, and tungsten used in arcing contacts.

Who is the importer of record?+

Under DAP and other non-DDP terms, you or your broker act as importer of record. We supply the documents your broker needs for the entry.

Can you match a part we buy from another supplier?+

Yes. Send the drawing, and a sample if the drawing is incomplete. We tell you what can be held before we quote, then make samples for your approval.

Can you take a small order?+

Yes. Small, engineering-heavy batches are work we take, from prototype quantities upwards.
