Duty under the UAE–India CEPA
The UAE–India trade agreement, known as CEPA, has been in force since 1 May 2022. Most Indian goods enter the UAE duty-free with proof of origin.

- Coverage
- Preferential access on over 97% of UAE tariff lines, covering 99% of Indian exports to the UAE by value. Most lines went to zero at once; others are phased out over 5, 7 or 10 years.
- Without proof of origin
- The GCC common customs duty of 5% applies.
- How you claim it
- With the certificate of origin or CEPA origin declaration we supply with each shipment.
- Free zones
- Goods delivered into a free zone such as Jebel Ali are not subject to customs duty until they enter the mainland, which suits re-export across the GCC.
- Import VAT
- 5%, reverse-charged on your VAT return if you are VAT-registered.

Questions buyers ask
Can you source parts outside your product list?+
Yes. We work as your procurement arm in India: we find and qualify suppliers for parts made to your drawing, approve samples against it, inspect before dispatch, and ship the parts with the rest of your order under one contract.
How is this different from a sourcing agent?+
A sourcing agent introduces you to suppliers and takes a commission; the contract and the risk stay with you. You buy from Qumek. We answer for the part, the price and the paperwork, and the quality problem is ours to solve.
Is there customs duty on electrical parts from India to the UAE?+
Under the UAE–India CEPA, in force since 1 May 2022, most Indian goods enter duty-free with proof of origin. Without it, the GCC common duty of 5% applies.
Can you deliver into a free zone?+
Yes. Goods delivered into a free zone such as Jebel Ali are not subject to customs duty until they enter the mainland.
Do your parts need UAE RoHS certification?+
Electrical equipment needs a conformity certificate under ECAS or an EQM licence. Components carry declarations, which we supply for your file.
Do you work to IEC and BS EN standards?+
Yes. We work to the standard your drawing names, and to metric drawings.
Can you match a part we buy from another supplier?+
Yes. Send the drawing, and a sample if the drawing is incomplete. We tell you what can be held before we quote, then make samples for your approval.
Can you take a small order?+
Yes. Small, engineering-heavy batches are work we take, from prototype quantities upwards.
