Beyond our list: your procurement arm in India

Most UK manufacturers cannot justify an office in India. We work as one for you: we find, qualify and develop Indian suppliers for parts outside our range, hold them to your drawing, and ship their parts with the rest of your order.

Supplier search and development

We shortlist Indian makers for your part, visit their plants, and check process capability and quality systems before any quotation. Where no one fits, we develop one.

Samples and first article approval

Samples are made and measured against your drawing, and a first article report goes to you for approval before production starts.

Quality checked on the ground

Our team inspects in process and before dispatch at the supplier, so problems are caught in India, not at your goods-in.

One contract, one invoice

You buy from Qumek, not from a chain of suppliers. We answer for the price, the drawing and the paperwork.

One shipment, one paperwork pack

Parts from several suppliers are consolidated into one shipment, with the origin declaration, UK RoHS and UK REACH paperwork for every part.

A second source in India

An approved Indian source for parts you buy from one supplier today, so a single factory or a single country is no longer a risk to your line.

UK duty on around 99% of tariff lines for Indian goods, with proof of origin.

Duty under the UK–India trade agreement

The UK–India trade agreement, known as CETA, entered into force on 15 July 2026. Most Indian goods now enter the UK duty-free, if the shipment carries proof of origin.

In force
Since 15 July 2026.
UK duty on Indian goods
Around 99% of tariff lines enter the UK duty-free under the agreement. Check the commodity code of each part on the UK Trade Tariff.
How you claim it
Enter the preference on your import declaration, backed by the origin declaration we issue on the agreement template. A certificate of origin is the alternative.
Validity
An origin declaration is valid for 12 months from completion.
Records
Keep the declaration and invoices for at least five years from the date of the declaration.
Without proof of origin
The UK Global Tariff rate applies, as it would to the same part from any other country.

Starts
1 January 2027. The first return and payment are due by 31 May 2028.
Who pays
The UK importer, once CBAM goods pass £50,000 in value over the previous 12 months.
Emissions data
Without verified data, a UK default value per tonne applies. We supply the embedded emissions data for aluminium and steel parts with the shipment, so you can report actual values.
Different from the EU
The UK threshold is by value, not tonnes, and the UK has not announced an extension to downstream products. A part can be in scope in one market and not the other.

UK compliance, covered

Components for electrical equipment carry declarations, not marks. These come with every UK order.

UK RoHS

A declaration per part, by homogeneous material. Leaded free-cutting brass relies on the RoHS exemption for lead in copper alloys; we flag it and quote low-lead brass where you need it.

UK REACH

A statement on substances of very high concern above 0.1% by weight, so you can meet your duty to inform under Article 33.

CE and UKCA

Parts like busbars, lugs and contacts are not marked themselves; your finished equipment carries the mark. Great Britain recognises the CE mark indefinitely for low voltage, EMC and RoHS equipment.

British and European standards

We work to the standard your drawing names, such as BS EN 13601 for copper for electrical purposes, and BS EN 61439 or BS EN 60947 where the assembly applies.

Northern Ireland

EU RoHS and EU REACH apply for goods delivered to Northern Ireland. Tell us the delivery address and the paperwork follows it.

Confidentiality

We sign your NDA before manufacturing, and your drawings are used only for your parts.

Questions buyers ask

Can you source parts outside your product list?+

Yes. We work as your procurement arm in India: we find and qualify suppliers for parts made to your drawing, approve samples against it, inspect before dispatch, and ship the parts with the rest of your order under one contract.

How is this different from a sourcing agent?+

A sourcing agent introduces you to suppliers and takes a commission; the contract and the risk stay with you. You buy from Qumek. We answer for the part, the price and the paperwork, and the quality problem is ours to solve.

Is there import duty on electrical parts from India to the UK?+

Under the UK–India trade agreement, in force since 15 July 2026, around 99% of tariff lines enter the UK duty-free, provided the shipment carries proof of origin. We issue the origin declaration with each shipment. Without it, the UK Global Tariff rate applies.

How do I claim the zero duty rate?+

Claim the preference on your import declaration, backed by our origin declaration on the agreement template. The declaration is valid for 12 months, and you keep it with the invoices for at least five years.

Are copper parts covered by UK CBAM?+

No. UK CBAM, from 1 January 2027, covers aluminium, iron and steel, cement, fertiliser and hydrogen. Copper and brass parts, plastic mouldings and coils are outside it. Aluminium heat sinks and castings, and mild steel stampings and fasteners, are in scope.

Do your parts need a UKCA or CE mark?+

Components such as busbars, lugs and contacts are not marked themselves. Your finished equipment carries the mark. We supply the UK RoHS and UK REACH declarations you need for your own conformity file.

Who pays import VAT?+

Under DAP, you clear the goods and pay import VAT, which a VAT-registered business can usually reclaim. Under DDP, duty and VAT are handled before delivery.

Do you work to British standards?+

Yes. We work to the standard your drawing names, such as BS EN 13601 for copper for electrical purposes, and to metric drawings in UK English.

Can you match a part we buy from another supplier?+

Yes. Send the drawing, and a sample if the drawing is incomplete. We tell you what can be held before we quote, then make samples for your approval.

Can you take a small order?+

Yes. Small, engineering-heavy batches are work we take, from prototype quantities upwards.
