Beyond our list: your procurement arm in India

Most manufacturers in Germany cannot justify an office in India. We work as one for you: we find, qualify and develop Indian suppliers for parts outside our range, hold them to your drawing, and ship their parts with the rest of your order.

Supplier search and development

We shortlist Indian makers for your part, visit their plants, and check process capability and quality systems before any quotation. Where no one fits, we develop one.

Samples and first article approval

Samples are made and measured against your drawing, and a first article report goes to you for approval before production starts.

Quality checked on the ground

Our team inspects in process and before dispatch at the supplier, so problems are caught in India, not at your goods-in.

One contract, one invoice

You buy from Qumek, not from a chain of suppliers. We answer for the price, the drawing and the paperwork.

One shipment, one paperwork pack

Parts from several suppliers are consolidated into one shipment, with the RoHS, REACH and SCIP paperwork for every part.

A second source in India

An approved Indian source for parts you buy from one supplier today, so a single factory or a single country is no longer a risk to your line.

2027

Expected entry into force of the EU–India FTA, when EU duties on Indian engineering goods go to zero.

Duty on Indian parts, now and under the FTA

The EU and India concluded their free trade agreement on 27 January 2026. Until it applies, standard EU duties apply to parts from India.

Today
Standard EU (MFN) duty rates. India’s GSP preference is suspended for plastics, base metals and electrical parts from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2028.
FTA status
Negotiations concluded on 27 January 2026. The text is in legal review, with entry into force expected in 2027.
At entry into force
EU tariffs of up to 10% on Indian engineering goods go to zero, and the EU removes tariffs on over 90% of its tariff lines.
How you will claim it
Through the proof of origin the final text sets. We supply the origin records your claim needs.
Until then
Compare the standard duty from India with your current source in the landed cost calculator. Quotations show the duty separately.

EU CBAM, now in its definitive phase

CBAM puts a carbon price on imported aluminium and steel. Copper, brass and plastic parts are outside it, for now.

In scopeAluminium and steel parts

  • Aluminium heat sinks and extrusions
  • Aluminium die-cast parts
  • Aluminium busbars
  • Mild steel stampings
  • Steel fasteners

OutsideCopper, brass and plastic parts

  • Copper busbars
  • Lugs and terminals
  • Flexible connectors and braids
  • Contacts
  • Coils
  • Copper and brass turned parts
  • Plastic mouldings
Definitive since
1 January 2026. Importers report embedded emissions and surrender CBAM certificates.
Who it applies to
Importers of more than 50 tonnes of CBAM goods a year, who must register as CBAM declarants.
From 2028
The EU plans to extend CBAM to 180 steel- and aluminium-intensive downstream products from 1 January 2028, so more finished parts may come into scope.
Emissions data
Without verified data, default values apply and usually cost more. We supply the embedded emissions data for aluminium and steel parts with the shipment.

EU compliance, covered

Components for electrical equipment carry declarations, not marks. These come with every order.

EU RoHS

A declaration per part, by homogeneous material. Leaded free-cutting brass relies on the exemption for lead in copper alloys; we flag it and quote low-lead brass where you need it.

REACH and SCIP

A statement on substances of very high concern above 0.1% by weight, for your Article 33 duty to inform and your SCIP database notification.

CE marking

Parts like busbars, lugs and contacts are not marked themselves; your finished equipment carries the CE mark. Our declarations go into your technical file.

Standards

We work to the standard your drawing names, such as EN 13601 for copper for electrical purposes, EN 61439 or EN 60947 where the assembly applies, and DIN EN and VDE standards.

Sustainability questionnaires

Answers and supporting data for the supplier questionnaires your sustainability and due diligence reporting asks for.

Confidentiality

We sign your NDA before manufacturing, and your drawings are used only for your parts.

From drawing to your site in Germany

One order, one point of contact, and the paperwork done before the parts leave India.

01

Send the drawing

PDF, STEP or DXF, with quantities and the Incoterm you want. We reply within 12 hours.

02

Quote and samples

A quotation with the metal price and its basis date shown separately, then samples for your approval.

03

Production and inspection

Each batch is measured against your drawing, with the record on file before dispatch.

04

Dispatch to Germany

Export packing, the dispatch pack and the origin documents, shipped to your Incoterm.

Incoterms

EXW to DDP. Under DAP you clear customs and account for import VAT; under DDP, duty and VAT are handled before delivery.

Ports and airports

Sea freight into Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam. Air into Frankfurt for samples.

Import VAT

Import VAT (Einfuhrumsatzsteuer) is paid to customs and reclaimed as input VAT; a customs deferment account spreads the payment.

India is 4 h 30 min ahead of CET and 3 h 30 min ahead of CEST. Your morning is our afternoon.

Questions buyers ask

Can you source parts outside your product list?+

Yes. We work as your procurement arm in India: we find and qualify suppliers for parts made to your drawing, approve samples against it, inspect before dispatch, and ship the parts with the rest of your order under one contract.

How is this different from a sourcing agent?+

A sourcing agent introduces you to suppliers and takes a commission; the contract and the risk stay with you. You buy from Qumek. We answer for the part, the price and the paperwork, and the quality problem is ours to solve.

What duty applies to electrical parts from India into Germany?+

Standard EU duty rates apply today, and India’s GSP preference is suspended for plastics, base metals and electrical parts from 2026 to 2028. When the EU–India FTA enters into force, expected in 2027, tariffs of up to 10% on Indian engineering goods go to zero.

Are copper parts covered by EU CBAM?+

No. CBAM covers aluminium, iron and steel, cement, fertilisers, hydrogen and electricity. Aluminium heat sinks and castings, and steel stampings and fasteners, are in scope. The EU plans to add 180 downstream steel and aluminium products from 2028.

Do you supply SCIP information?+

Yes. We state any substance of very high concern above 0.1% by weight in each part, so you can make your SCIP notification and meet your duty to inform.

Do your parts need a CE mark?+

Components such as busbars, lugs and contacts are not marked themselves. Your finished equipment carries the CE mark, and our declarations support your technical file.

Do you work to DIN EN and EN standards?+

Yes. We work to the standard your drawing names, and to metric drawings.

Can you match a part we buy from another supplier?+

Yes. Send the drawing, and a sample if the drawing is incomplete. We tell you what can be held before we quote, then make samples for your approval.

Can you take a small order?+

Yes. Small, engineering-heavy batches are work we take, from prototype quantities upwards.
